A Day In The Life

8:43- We are all up and around and I leave Brady sitting on the couch watching the pictures flick through on http://thepioneerwoman.com/ to get breakfast around. (Note we had been up for a while but we just sat around checking e-mail etc.)

8:45- I have a chocolate chip cranberry scone that I made the other day, and my coffee in a Christmas mug that I insist on using year round because they are the biggest and therefore don’t have to be refilled. Brady has Plain yogurt with Agave “all over”. Kaylee has a plum pouch- purple carrot and blueberry.
8:46- Just documenting the mess of the table. I couldn’t find any other place to put my sewing machine, so it takes up half of the table. The orange pumpkin jar behind it is a craft in progress of Brady’s. (Side note from several days later the pumpkin turned out quite cute with a little battery operated tea light in it!)
8:47- Kaylee had the beginnings of an ear infection at the end of last week so I have been putting castor oil in her ears twice a day hence the tissue in her ears. Kaylee loves scones too :)
8:55- Diaper and getting ready for the day.

8:56-Both kids are dressed and ready.
9:00- Brady has a string on his shirt that he wants cut off, I can’t just use the scissors though he wants Daddy to cut it off with his pocket knife.

9:01- A simple string turns into a lesson on using a pocket knife including how it flips out so fast when Daddy gets it out. Also I note looking back on the pictures that I still haven’t eaten my breakfast here. Somehow I got distracted and forgot to eat.

9:02- Here son now you try… Just kidding!

9:06- Slammed my finger in the door and screamed so loud that Jason ran to me screaming "oh my God". I had been looking for a really sharp blade and he thought I cut my finger off.

9:07-Finger is fine, ready to head to the playdate but I never drank my coffee so it comes with me. I'm wearing a sweatshirt that was my Dad's.  It reminds me of him whenever I wear it, and makes me feel like he is giving me a hug :)

9:08- Kids are ready, nice that Jason was home to put them in the car for me. Note the pretty pink carseat that Brady is riding in. It is a carseat that belongs to his friend who I take to daycare 3 days a week after preschool, but he has commandeered it when she is not in the car.

9:09- check out the turkey coop that Jason is building. I actually like it, but it takes up my entire driveway… but he says that when it is finished I get my garage back so I tolerate it ;)

9:10- oops we were supposed to be at the playdate at 9:00… We were a little distracted this morning! Luckily it is close and with good friends!

10:15- Kaylee braves the tunnel at her friend’s house.

12:11- Lunch at the playdate- mac and cheese, apples, and tea for me. The boys decide it is a perfect day for a picnic in the driveway and get out the table and chairs. The dog stays close by waiting for one of them to walk away.

1:17- Home from the playdate and Kaylee is sacked out! Thanks to Norah Jones and the car ride home it was easy to get her to sleep.

1:21- Put the dog out so he doesn't whine and wake Kaylee up, and he goes straight out to the sun and sits down. He is really enjoying this warm weather after the crud we had last week.

1:22- Brady and I enjoy some baby free time by doing things that are hard to do with a very interested baby around. We have a couple of snacks, play, call Grandma Jackie, do a load of laundry, dust the playroom because of a crazy amount of spider webs that have appeared, shop on-line for a new leotard for my dance class, and Brady takes some pictures.
He had some major plans here.
Something about catching fish with a net- the net was his bathrobe.
Talking to Grandma Jackie
He is an Eagle sitting on his nest waiting for his eggs to hatch.

Brady took this picture of me standing on the couch dusting!  Pretty good for a little guy!

The Harvest spice granola bars are AMAZING!

2:50- I reluctantly get Kaylee up from her nap because we have a 3:00 Chiropractor appointment. She doesn’t seem upset to be awake though, so she must have been getting ready to get up anyway.

3:00- At the chiropractor and her ears are almost completely clear! Yaay!! This is quite a difference from our appointment on Thursday when both ears were bright red.
Yellow Springs Chiropractic

3:31- We decide to take advantage of the beautiful weather after the Chiropractor, and also take advantage of the fact that we are right next to the bike path and take a walk.

My favorite tree in the "Women's Park"

4:21- Done with our walk, I would have liked to walk longer but I am not wearing appropriate shoes and know that my feet will not be happy if I walk much longer. We stop at the library to drop off a video that is overdue. We aren’t doing videos except maybe once a week he can watch a short one. We were noticing a significant difference in his behavior when he would watch videos versus when he wouldn’t so we stopped completely for several weeks. He has been asking us to teach him signs constantly lately so we allowed this signing video as an exception and even then he only watched it once.

4:28- Back home to the giant turkey coop… remember how I said it takes up the whole driveway? I wasn’t kidding! Snack for Kaylee and some tea and emergen-c for me. I have been taking it regularly to try and fight off whatever is going around and it seems to be helping.  Oh and I have 2
Fig Newmans"

Numi tea is the best!

4:40- Playtime until Daddy comes home, we play "band" and Kaylee dances to brother’s music.

A little cobra action- his favorite yoga position.

5:11- Daddy calls! He is headed home!  The kids put on a piano concert and then we play a rousing game of hide and seek.

I adore the tiptoes in this picture

5:39- Daddy!

5:40- Mad rush to the door and much yelling and excitement ensues.

5:41- Daddy and the kids play a crazy game that the boys made up called Groundhog catcher.  This is basically a game of tag except generally Brady is the one being chased (he is the groundhog) and Daddy and Kaylee are the catchers. I reheat leftovers for dinner while they play.

5:47- Leftover homemade pizza from last night. One is olive and spinach with tomato sauce and the other is crab Rangoon! YUM! Daddy also has a homebrew beer that a friend makes and gives us occasionally!

5:56- Brady scarfs his pizza and runs off to wash his hands and manages to hurt his elbow :(

5:57- Kaylee and I finish eating (and Kaylee plays her new favorite game (drop all your dinner on the floor) while Brady and Daddy start bedtime. It is an early bedtime tonight because I have a dance class that I have to leave for at 7:00 and Daddy needs to be done with Brady so he can be getting Kaylee to sleep while I am gone.

6:04- Bedtime routine is 2 books, brush teeth, back to his room to either read 2 more books or tell 2 stories outloud, then he puts on pajamas and we put on his favorite CD of an awesome local band called “Wheels”, and we turn on his stars that project on the ceiling.
Brady's loft bed from IKEA.  Like the purple shag carpet?

6:07- I bring Kaylee back to brush her teeth and to help with Brady and we realize that I promised Brady ice cream for dessert if he took pictures nicely all day (which he did) so we take a quick break from bedtime to have some ice cream- mint chocolate chip from the local dairy.
I can do it myself Mommy!

6:23- Brady and I head back to brush his teeth. His favorite way lately is to lie down and have me do it that way. I don’t mind because he doesn’t seem to be swallowing the toothpaste and it is easier to brush the back teeth this way.

6:25- I take advantage of the fact that Daddy has Kaylee and get ready for my ballet class.

6:27- I take Kaylee back so Daddy can finish bedtime and she thinks my leotard is the funniest thing ever.

6:53- Daddy starts to take Kaylee to bounce her to sleep (her favorite way to fall asleep) but when I take pictures she gets upset and then spots the kitty in the window so I let her “pet” the kitty through the window for a minute before I leave.

7:00- I head to my ballet class while Daddy takes over.
7:19- I arrive at the ballet class and park in the scariest parking garage ever.  The garage is so old that it feels like it is going to collapse and I also feel like I have to duck when I drive in.

9:24- Home from my class and find out that I took off with the carseat. OOPS! Kaylee won’t sleep lying flat, so we get her to sleep and then lay her down in her carseat in her room. I guess it is better than last week when I took off with the only pacifier we could find.

9:32- I’m ready to curl up with a book (and my post dance class snack of an apple) and read until bed while Jason studies, but instead I waste time on the computer and we watch something on Hulu (I can't remember what) when Jason comes to bed.

I must note for the record that my kids both seem to have grease spots on them in all of these pictures.  Apparently they only show up in pictures and not in real life!  I didn't notice them until I was looking through pictures later.
